There is one simple
way to help yourself & the world at large & that is
by saving energy in your home. Your bills will consequently
be reduced & you will be helping the environment by reducing
your personal consumption of fossil fuels. Lower energy consumption
means a reduction in the carbon dioxide levels which effect
global warming. Turning down the thermostat by just one degree
will make a real difference & the difference is barely noticeable.
You can save energy by speculating to accumulate; ensuring that
your home is fitted with quality insulation, heating controls
& an efficient boiler. Energy efficient appliances such
as low energy light bulbs are also an option. The easiest way
to save energy, however, is by using your head- only using electricity
when you really need to e.g. using the washing machine for full
loads only, switching off TVs & light bulbs when not in
use.

Remember to read

If you are of pensionable
age, disabled, chronically sick or have sight or hearing difficulties
then you can apply to register on your gas or electricity company's
Priority Service Register. This entitles you to a variety of
benefits including free gas appliance & installation safety
checks, quarterly meter readings if you are unable to do so
yourself, repositioning of meters for easier access & a
password scheme whereby employees must say your personal password
before they are allowed admittance into your home. You can request
a form by telephone or email to register. |
